Description
This tour combines three styles of architecture: Inca in Tipon, pre-Inca Wari in Pikillacta, colonial style in Andahuaylillas with its beautiful Chapel, also known as the “Sistine Chapel of America”.
- Price: 15.00 US dollars per person.
- Confirmed departures: Every day.
- Schedule: 8:30 hours a 14:30 hours.
- Duration: 06 hours approximately.
During this journey we will be able to observe beautiful landscapes of the Andean highlands. The first stop will be the archaeological centre of Tipon, an Inka ceremonial centre where the flow of water from the high peaks of the Pachatusan hill to the lowlands of the valley was controlled by means of a stone channel.
Later we will visit the archaeological complex of Pikillaqta, which literally means “city of fleas”. It is an ancient walled citadel of the Wari Empire, which was one of the most important regional centres of the Wari Culture in its expansion towards the city of Cusco.
Finally we will conclude our trip visiting the beautiful church of Andahuaylillas, a small jewel of the Colonial period, also known as ‘The Sistine Chapel of America’, in whose interior there is an impressive collection of canvases with frames bathed in gold leaf and mural paintings, baroque altarpieces, and more. We will also be able to appreciate the famous pentalingual door.

TYPON
A large and impressive cultivation area containing 12 terraces that are currently cultivated, whose walls were built with finely carved stones. Even more impressive is the irrigation system that is still serving agriculture and the advantage is the water intake in the spring season. In this Archaeological Centre you can observe the capacity of Hydraulic Engineering that the Incas had.
PIKILLAQTA
It presents characteristics of a great urban centre corresponding to the time of development of the Wari empire with more than a thousand constructions between squares, colcas (food deposits), courts or houses, temples, long and narrow streets with buildings that were up to 4 floors high.
ANDAHUAYLILLAS
Typical Andean village of the time of the colony of singular origin and architecture. On the way back we will pass through Saylla, a typical Cusquenian village where you can enjoy the delicious pork cracklings (optional). Our arrival point in the city of Cusco will be the San Francisco square.
