ESSNA Code of Conduct

ESSNA Code of Conduct

Pursuant to Law No. 28251, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) has created a national policy against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESSNA).
In this framework, the ESSNA Code and Quechua Land Expedition have established a cooperation agreement to carry out joint actions aimed at preventing and eradicating this problem.
Therefore, we declare that:

  • We reject the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESSNA) in Peru and worldwide, especially in its form associated with travel and tourism, as it represents behavior that violates fundamental human rights and contradicts the core values of the tourism industry in our country.
  • We denounce and condemn those who use tourism activities, facilities, or services to promote, enable, or tolerate the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. Based on the above,
Quechua Land Expedition hereby adopts this Code of Conduct Against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in Tourism.

This Code is a formal, voluntary declaration intended to establish standards of conduct for all members of Quechua Land Expedition, with the purpose of protecting children and adolescents from all forms of sexual exploitation and human trafficking associated with travel and tourism.

Furthermore, all employees of the company, in order to take the necessary measures to protect children and adolescents against sexual exploitation, commit to:

  • Maintaining an ethical policy that rejects the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the context of travel and tourism.
  • Informing and training all personnel on the company’s policy for the prevention of sexual exploitation of minors within tourism and travel activities.
  • Maintaining visible symbols that alert clients and suppliers about our stance against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism.
  • Including a clause in contracts with tourism service providers declaring a shared rejection of sexual exploitation of minors, using the following paragraph:
“Tourism promotes a childhood and adolescence free from sexual exploitation; therefore, we do not accept any act that supports or facilitates the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.”
