Itinerary
A.M. | CUSCO – KM 104 INCA TRAIL – MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES
We will start the day by picking you up from your hotel between 4:00 and 4:30 am to transfer you in our tourist transport to Ollantaytambo train station for 1h 30 minutes, where you will board the train around 6:00 am. Towards km 104 of the railway where the 2 day Inca Trail starts and where you will also meet your tour guide and pass through the Inca Trail check point. Then we will start with a 3 hour uphill hike to the archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna, where you will have time to explore and listen to a guided explanation of the archaeological site.
Then, we will have lunch and continue walking for another 2 hours to the Sun Gate (Intipunku), from where you will have a spectacular view of Machu Picchu, then we will continue walking for about 45 minutes to Machu Picchu where we will have free time to take pictures and enjoy the magic of the Inca city. Afterwards we will take a bus for 45 minutes to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will spend a night in the hotel and also enjoy a delicious dinner in the evening.
A.M: | MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
On day 2, we will start our tour to Machu Picchu very early in the morning. You should wake up around 4:00 am to get ready, have your breakfast and start the 30 minute hike to the Puente Ruinas checkpoint, where you will need to show your passport and Machu Picchu tickets. After the first checkpoint, we will climb the steps uphill for about an hour until we reach the Machu Picchu checkpoint, where we will again show our passports and entrance tickets before entering the archaeological site. Once we are all at the gate, we begin the 2 hour 30 minute guided tour of Machu Picchu, taking in the most important sites of the Lost City of the Incas. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the Inca city of Machu Picchu on your own. You will then walk back to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will have lunch (optional), after which you will board the 14:55 pm train back to Ollantaytambo station. Where you will be picked up by our tourist transport to bring you to the city of Cusco, arriving at San Francisco Square around 6:00 pm.
