The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is one of the best trekking routes in the world, surrounded by fascinating natural and cultural beauty.

These trails will guide us through different ecosystems ranging from Andean mountains to cloud forests and we will explore mysterious archaeological sites, some still covered by vegetation that will give us a feeling of discovering them for the first time. The hike ends with the breathtaking view of the sunrise at the sun gate entrance of Machu Picchu. This tour has to be booked up to 3 months in advance and in high season (March-September) it tends to be overbooked.

Sleeping bags, if you don’t have one, you can rent with us.
Porter service. You need to carry all your personal belongings including the sleeping bag, if you want to hire a porter service it is 70 dollars for 7 kilos for the four days.
Extra expenses, tips and gratitude.
Passport.
Backpack to carry all your belongings and sleeping bag. It should be a comfortable 30-35 litre technical hiking backpack. If you have a bigger one it works as well.
Sleeping bag minimum minus 5 degrees. If you do NOT have one, you can rent one from us for $10 for the whole trek. The sleeping bag weighs about 1.5 kilos.
Trekking poles – We recommend for people with knee or ankle problems or who used to use trekking poles. If you don’t have one, you can rent a pair of trekking poles from us for $10.

Two layers (jumper, fleece).
Two pairs of long trousers if you have leggings, you can do this with leggings.

Itinerary
A.M. | CUSCO – PISCACUCHO (KM 82) – WAYLLABAMBA
We start this adventure by picking you up from your hotel between 6:00 and 6:30 am to start the trip in our tourist transport to the village of Ollantaytambo. After a 2 hour drive we will stop for breakfast. Then we continue driving one hour more in the same car until the beginning of the trail Km 82 / Piscacucho, on the way of the trip you have the opportunity to enjoy a lot of corn plantations, potato crops, vegetable crops because the valley that we go up to km 82 is the sacred valley where most of the local people are engaged in agricultural activities. Once at the beginning of the trail, we prepare to pass the first checkpoint of the entire Inca Trail. After getting an Inca Trail stamp in your passport, we walk 2 hours to reach Mesccay, where we take a break and also have the opportunity to enjoy the local corn beer called Chicha. Then we continue walking to the viewpoint of the Llactapata ruins to explore and also to receive the explanation of the guide. We walk for 30 minutes more to reach the lunch place and enjoy our delicious energetic lunch. After lunch 2.5 hours more walk to the camp located in Huayllabamba where our team of porters and cooks set up camp. Time to enjoy hot tea and dinner at the camp. The camp is located at 3000 m.a.s.l.
A.M: | HUAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA (PUNTO MÁS ALTO DEL CAMINO INCA) – PACAYMAYO
The cooks will wake you up with a hot coca tea early in the morning to successfully complete the most difficult day of the Inca Trail. After a nutritious breakfast, we prepare to start the hike to the highest point of the Inca Trail 4212 m.a.s.l / 13818ft. It is a 4 hour hike uphill. The trail starts at 3000 m and goes up to 4212 m through a beautiful path made of stones combined with nice Inka stairs that leads you to the Inca trail pass called – WARMIWAÑUSCA. (Pass of the dead woman). If we have good weather, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains surrounding Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After spending some time at the pass. We start descending to the lunch place 2 hours walk down the Inca steps arriving to the lunch place Pacaymayo where we have lunch and also the campsite, in the afternoon we have tea time and then dinner to sleep in the campsite called Pacaymayo – located at 3700 m.a.s.l.
A.M: | PACAYMAYO – PHUYUPATAMARKA – WIÑAYWAYNA
This will be the most beautiful day of the trek because you have the opportunity to see how the landscape changes from the Andean cloud forest to the jungle area. We hike along beautiful well preserved original Inca trails and we will also visit Phuyupatamarca (the village in the clouds). In the distance, we will enjoy the view of the majestic Salkantay mountain and Wakaywillka mountain and of course the first views of Machu Picchu mountain and Huaynapicchu mountain. After a delicious breakfast around 5:30 am we leave the camp to Phuyupatamarca after 2 hours of walking uphill and then two hours more downhill on the Inca trail. We arrive at Puyupatamarca, where you will have time to enjoy the views, and also explore the beautiful archaeological site of Puyupatamarca. Afterwards we continue walking up the Inca stairs to Intipata after 2 hours walk we arrive at Intipata and explore the agricultural terraces and enjoy the magnificent views of the Urubamba River and its valleys, then we head to the lunch spot at the wiñayhuayna camp to eat a delicious lunch. Siesta time after having the siesta we go to explore the Inca ruins of Wiñaywayna. Then we return to the camp to enjoy tea time and the last dinner made by the camp chefs.
A.M: | MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
This is the day and the magic moment to get to know Machu Picchu. Very early in the morning we will wake you up with a hot coca tea served in your tent by the chefs, then enjoy a delicious breakfast to be the first to pass the last checkpoint of the Inca Trail. Hike to the sun gate through the incredible trails built into the cliff of the steep rocky mountains covered with dense vegetation. Once we arrive at INTIPUNKU (sun gate), we will have time to enjoy the magnificent view of the Inca city of MACHUPICCHU for your eyes to enjoy. Enjoy incredible views of a village made of stone built by ancient civilizations of the Peruvian Andes after continuing our hike up to the citadel of Machu Picchu through the enclosures that used to function as access controls and ritual enclosures that the Incas used to use before reaching Machu Picchu itself. Once in Machu Picchu we have time for classic and panoramic photographs. Then we go into the Inca city to have a guided tour for 2h 30 minutes approx. by the most important places of Machu Picchu, then the guide will let you go alone to explore the vast Inca city like the Inca bridge, Huaynapicchu mountain or Machu Picchu mountain if you book it in advance. After 4 to 5 hours in Machupicchu we will board the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will have free time for lunch. Then we will take a train at 18:20 pm for 2 hours to Ollantaytambo train station where our tourist transport will be waiting for you to bring you back to Cusco city. You will be back in Cusco around 10:00 pm.
